When it comes time to deliver, The Birthplace at Fairview is an outstanding choice to meet your new baby for the first time. Of course, we also offer breastfeeding support and care for newborns at our clinics.
You’re pregnant! Now what?
Regular prenatal visits are essential to you and your baby’s health.
Your first appointment is typically around 8 to 10 weeks. Each visit will include a check on your weight and blood pressure. You’ll get to hear your baby’s heart beat each time and ask questions.
A typical prenatal care schedule includes visits:
If your provider determines you have a high-risk pregnancy, you have easy access to to specialized care through University of Minnesota Medical Center’s three Maternal-Fetal Medicine Centers.
- Once a month during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy
- Twice a month during the 28th through 36th weeks of pregnancy
- Once a week after 36 weeks
