Joint Replacement Classes

Know what to expect from your surgery

Fairview and HealthEast each offer a free class on what to expect before, during and after your joint replacement surgery. You’ll learn more about your procedure and the special equipment you may need while you recover. You will also meet others who will have the same surgery and have the opportunity to ask questions. Plan to attend a class two to three weeks before your procedure.

You will learn:

  • How to prepare for your surgery
  • Ways to promote healing and reduce the risk of problems
  • What to expect during your hospital stay
  • Which supplies that are helpful after surgery

For Fairview patients

Plan to attend a class two to three weeks before your procedure.
Classes are offered at the following sites each week:

  • Fairview Lakes Medical Center (Wyoming)
  • Fairview Northland Medical Center (Princeton)
  • Fairview Range Medical Center (Hibbing)
  • Fairview Ridges Hospital (Burnsville)
  • Fairview Southdale Hospital (Edina)
  • University of Minnesota Medical Center (Minneapolis)

To register, call 612-672-7272 or register online.

We highly recommended that you attend a class in person. However, if you are unable to do so, an online class is available. Watch the video on joint replacement class.

After you’ve finished the online class, please contact the Nurse Educator assigned to your hospital to inform them that you’ve completed the education. This is also a great time to ask any additional questions you may have.
