Many people with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions benefit from aquatic therapy, as do those recovering from major surgeries or traumatic injuries. Both children and adults benefit from the warm water and its physical properties, which assist in healing and exercise performance.
What is Aquatic Therapy?
When warmed to 88 degrees or more, water helps people with muscle, bone, orthopedic and neurological conditions by relaxing muscles and ligaments and promoting flexibility. Exercise that otherwise would be painful or not possible on land may be done comfortably in warm water. The water also provides natural resistance to help muscles work harder while putting less stress on the body.
Fairview Rehabilitation Services offers aquatic therapy to people of all ages. A rehabilitation therapist will evaluate you and create a unique treatment program based on your age, needs and abilities.
