Our Approach

Fairview and HealthEast are proud to have hospitalists as part our care teams. These specially-trained doctors care for hospitalized patients with more complex medical problems. Hospitalists know and work consistently with all members of the patient care team, including physician specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and others. They are experts in figuring out unusual illnesses, anticipating problems, and responding quickly to a crisis or changes in a patient’s medical situation.

Hospital medicine is specially organized around the site of care, rather than a disease or organ. And because hospitalists spend a significant amount of time with patients in the hospital, they have more day-to-day experience in caring for today’s more complex patients. When a patient goes home, his or her regular doctor will again provide care and answer questions.
