Minnesota needs better mental health care, and more of it. Fairview Health Services is already the largest provider of mental health care in the Upper Midwest. As a community anchor, it is our responsibility to act and find new solutions to continue meeting this need.
To answer the call, we partnered with Acadia Healthcare, a national leader in mental health and addiction services, to build Capitol Park Mental Health Hospital – a new, state-of-the-art inpatient mental health hospital. Located at the former site of Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, the new 144-bed facility will connect more patients to safe, leading-edge care for adult and geriatric patients from across Minnesota in a specialized, calming, and therapeutic space.
Capitol Park is expected to open in fall 2025 and will provide fully integrated primary care, internal medicine, and mental health care in a home-like setting equipped with a gym, outdoor garden spaces, and other amenities. Importantly, no patient will be denied access to care based on their ability to pay.
