Located just three hours north of Minneapolis/St. Paul and 90 minutes northwest of Duluth, Grand Rapids is in the heart of northern Minnesota on the Mississippi River. With more than 1,000 lakes throughout Itasca County and a million acres of forestland, Grand Rapids serves as the southern gateway to the Chippewa National Forest and is the birthplace of actress Judy Garland. Outdoor recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, and skiing abound.
Grand Rapids offers excellent educational opportunities, from early childhood through community college. Itasca Community College offers classes and degree programs provided by University of Minnesota-Duluth Campus and the College of St. Scholastica.
The Reif Performing Arts Center brings musical talent and theater to the community and also provides an outstanding venue for local groups to perform. MacRostie Art Center features monthly exhibitions, classes, and a retail gift chop featuring local and regional art. Mt. Itasca Winter Sports Center is home to snow-sport athletes and enthusiasts of every age.

Hibbing is the heartbeat of Minnesota’s Iron Range. Our community is 72 miles northwest of Duluth, 208 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and 90 miles south of the Canadian border.
Hibbing is the largest city on the Iron Range and is the former home of music legend Bob Dylan, basketball great Kevin McHale, and baseball player Roger Maris. Hibbing also has one of the world’s largest open pit mines — the Hull Rust Mine View, accessible from the Mesabi Trail.
Hibbing offers outstanding lakes and parks, including Carey Lake, with a public beach, boat launch, fishing piers, and hiking trails. We have a historic downtown with a variety of shopping and restaurants. Here, you can live a rural lifestyle, yet you are not far from Duluth and just three hours from the Twin Cities. You are also connected to anywhere you want to go through the Range Regional Airport.
