Fairview is proud to offer scholarships to Fairview employees who have completed high school and/or earned a G.E.D. and will be entering or are currently enrolled in an accredited college or technical school program. This scholarship is offered to support the leadership development of employees who are pursuing advancement opportunities within Fairview.
This scholarship is generally offered in the spring of each year with winners announced in mid-summer.
Eligibility:
Eligible candidates for this scholarship are:
- Current Fairview employees with a good employment record.
- Accepted and enrolled in an accredited college-level school/program.
- Completing a program that will help them qualify for leadership positions that are expected to be available within Fairview. The program can be any level from certificate through doctorate.
- Role models of the Fairview values.
- Employees who have demonstrated leadership ability, through risk-taking efforts, to influence positive change within Fairview.
All employees who meet the above criteria are eligible to apply. Applicants don’t have to be in a management/leadership role.

Fairview is proud to offer scholarships to dependents of benefit-eligible Fairview employees (up to age 25) who are pursuing a college level degree program within the health care discipline.
This scholarship is generally offered in the spring of each year with winners announced in mid-summer.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates for this scholarship are:
- High school seniors, recent high school graduates who plan to enroll, or students already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program.
- Is a dependent of a Fairview employee (children, siblings, grandchildren, spouses, etc.).
- Accepted and enrolled in an accredited college-level program.
- Completing a program that will help them qualify for positions that are expected to be available within Fairview.

Elaine Marie Nelson Hoke Memorial Nursing Scholarship
A scholarship for your academic achievement
The Hoke Memorial Nursing Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded annually to a nursing student who shows academic achievement. The scholarship will go directly to the student's school and may be used for tuition, books or other school expenses. Applications are due by the last business day in June.
Eligibility
Fairview, Ebenezer, Masonic Children's and HealthEast employee or family member of an employee (daughter, son, sister, brother, mother, father, granddaughter or grandson)
Accepted into an accredited 2-year or 4-year school of nursing
Demonstrates community involvement, dependability and academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or higher)
To apply
To be considered, applicants must submit the following materials:
- Hoke Memorial Nursing Scholarship application form
- Documentation of acceptance/enrollment in an accredited registered nurse program in the state of Minnesota
- Copy of education transcripts (unofficial copy is fine)
- Two professional letters of recommendation
- Current résumé, including current and former employment, education and training, certifications, special skills, volunteer experiences and/or other professional experiences

Other Fairview Scholarships Available
Fairview Northland Scholarship
Fairview Northland Medical Center and Fairview Northland Medical Staff, are pleased to offer 7 - $1,000 and 2 - $500 scholarships for students pursing a health care degree.
These scholarships will be selected and recipients notified in May/June. Money for scholarships comes from funds raised by the M Health Fairview Northland Medical Center and Medical Staff as well.

Helping our high school volunteers succeed
The Junior Volunteer scholarship is awarded to active volunteers at Fairview Ridges Hospital and Fairview Southdale Hospital.
Criteria for participation
- Must be a junior or senior in high school
- Serve a minimum of 150 hours by Dec. 31; 100 of those hours must be earned between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of the year of the award
- Plan to continue education after high school
- Currently is an active (on the schedule and volunteering on a regular day) Junior Volunteer at Fairview Ridges Hospital or Fairview Southdale Hospital
- The scholarship Selection committee reviews applications and each applicant is interviewed. Volunteers could potentially receive more than one scholarship if they consistently meet the eligibility requirements for both their junior and senior years in high school.

Fairview Ridges - Paula Welford Legacy Education Fund
Supporting your scholarship journey
We offer educational funding to eligible employees in honor of Paula Welford, RN, MSN, and in recognition of the importance of baccalaureate preparation for professional nursing. Throughout her career, Paula promoted, encouraged and helped facilitate staff to seek higher educational opportunities in nursing.
Eligibility
Nurses who wish to continue their education toward a bachelor’s, master's or doctorate degree in nursing can apply for this fund.
Guidelines for the Paula Welford Legacy Education Fund
This fund is available for the continuation of education for nurses enrolled in a bachelor’s, master's or doctorate degree program for nursing. Fairview Ridges Hospital and hospital-based clinic nurses who have been employed for one year or more are encouraged to apply.
To qualify, you must:
- be a regularly scheduled employee (.5 or greater)
- continue to work during the period of study
- intend to continue working with Fairview Ridges Hospital
How to apply
- A paper copy can be obtained from Nursing Administration at Fairview Ridges Hospital.
- The application deadline is August 5.
- Fill out an online application.
- Submit your completed application to your manager for comments and signature (it won't be accepted without manager’s signature).
- Send your completed application to Nursing Administration.
Sources of proof you'll need
Proof of acceptance into a nursing program must be provided with your application, such as:
- acceptance letter for nursing program
- letter from advisor
- proof of course registration
- business office correspondence
How applicants are selected
Applications are reviewed by the Engagement and Healthy Work Environment Council and funds are awarded based on the following:
- Educational goal objective of Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degrees in nursing
- Clear relationship of objective related to present or future nursing practice
- Manager recommendation
- Approval by EHWE Council
Funding amount
- Awards are $1,500
Time and conditions of payment:
- Payment of award will be made within 90 days of notice upon successful completion of your designated courses.
- A copy of your grade transcripts and fee statements are to be sent to the Engagement and Healthy Work Environment Council chair at Fairview Ridges.
- If courses are taken with a letter grade, you must attain a minimum of a “C."
- If courses are taken on a pass/fail basis, you must attain a “pass” status.
