M Health Fairview is the newly expanded academic health system developed from a shared drive to discover a better way to deliver breakthrough care closer to home. M Health Fairview is a collaboration among the University of Minnesota, University of Minnesota Physicians, and Fairview Health Services. Our partnership combines the University’s deep history of clinical innovation and training with Fairview’s extensive roots in community medicine. Pharmacy Residency Programs
M Health Fairview PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two pharmacy residency training.
The PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 provides residents opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.
PGY2 pharmacy residencies are offered in a variety of practice environments and may focus on specific practice areas, patient populations, and/or disease states. Therefore, a corresponding set of educational goals and objectives has been developed by ASHP for many of the practice settings and areas of practice (e.g., critical care, oncology, health system pharmacy administration, pediatric pharmacy, infectious diseases). Each considers the unique elements of the practice site and the focused area of practice.

Applying to our program
Applying to the pharmacy residency program
Applicants for the pharmacy residency program must be eligible for licensure in the State of Minnesota and a graduate of an ACPE program or FPGEC certificate. Interested applicants should complete the requirements, which include basic demographic information, letter of intent, CV, college transcripts, and three (3) letters of recommendation. These elements should be completed in the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application. There are no additional application materials needed.
