Spotlight: M Health Fairview Mental Health & Addiction Clinic expanding inside new St. Paul hub
Mental health is a significant and growing concern in our community – and trusted, accessible resources are key to providing upstream support for people experiencing a mental health concern.
Fairview Health Services announced last fall the creation of the Fairview Community Health and Wellness Hub, opening this summer in downtown St. Paul. The hub will provide direct access to the services, resources, and expert care that people need to live a healthy life – including mental healthcare.
The M Health Fairview Outpatient Mental Health & Addiction Clinic will be a key partner located at the hub. We asked Selina Brugler, CNP, manager of the behavioral outpatient clinical program, what the community can expect from the hub’s mental health and addiction services.
What is your role with the hub?
I manage the clinical operations of the M Health Fairview Mental Health and Addiction Clinic that will be located on the third floor of the hub, as well as four other outpatient clinics in our system. The outpatient clinic that previously existed at M Health Fairview St. Joseph’s Hospital will be moving to its new space and expanding services as the hub opens.
What services will the Mental Health and Addiction Clinic offer?
Our aim is to provide a wide variety of valuable services so that we can be a trusted, reliable, and accessible source for quality mental health and addiction care in the community. This includes:
- Onsite psychiatry and addiction medicine medical providers.
- Medication management with onsite physicians and nurse practitioners who can prescribe and adjust medications in a timely manner.
- Psychotherapy.
- Transitional care that provides mental health bridging services, often with same day or next day appointments.
- Substance use disorder intensive outpatient groups.
- Mental health intensive outpatient groups.
- Virtual, in-person, and telemedicine appointments are available to create improved access for all. Patients can even use video equipment at our clinic to connect virtually with a provider at another site if we don’t have an in-person appointment that meets their needs.
What do you want the community to know about the clinic?
The hub is a healthcare facility that supports people in maintaining healthy lives. Mental health is such an important need in our community, and I am proud of the ways that our health system continues to think boldly about how we can address these needs. Our goal is always to get people connected to the right level of care in a manner that is least disruptive to their lives. I want the community to know that we are here for them, that we have worked hard to create an accessible, positive experience, and that we have a team of experts at the hub and in our system’s network that are ready to partner with them on their care and treatment journey.
