We Aim to be a Good Neighbor in Our Local Communities

Our community benefit programs contributed over $500 million to support the communities where we live and work.

Community Benefit
Fairview Health Services is committed to driving a healthier future. One way we accomplish this is through programs and activities that provide care or promote health and healing as a response to identified needs in the community.

“Fairview strives to be a good neighbor and give back to our local communities,” says Ann Ellison, Fairview director of community health. “We do this in a variety of ways: providing support and education around mental health issues, offering outreach and community education, supporting education and workforce development, and championing wellness and prevention.”

Fairview’s community benefit in 2016, as determined by the Catholic Health Association/Veterans Health Administration guidelines, totaled $310.89 million. When other contributions are considered, such as losses as a result of Medicare underfunding, Fairview’s support for the community reached $596.94 million.

Our community benefit programs or activities focus on our mission to heal, discover and educate for longer, healthier lives and must meet at least one of these objectives:
  • Improve access to health care services
  • Enhance the health of the community
  • Advance medical or health care knowledge
