Compassion for patients, leadership in quality and patient safety, and a role model in the health care setting—these are just a few of the qualities that describe great nurses.
We are lucky to have talented nurses at Fairview and University of Minnesota Health who go above and beyond when providing care to our patients and communities. You can read samples of what our nurses bring to their jobs every day here or here, and check out this KSTP story about one of our nurses at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Thuy-Tien Truong, RN.
Last year, Tien was awarded the Distinguished Nurse of the Year Award by the March of Dimes Minnesota. The March of Dimes Minnesota holds a ceremony each fall to honor outstanding nurses from around the state.
Three other nurses from our system were also honored by the March of Dimes in 2015, out of more than 400 nurses nominated. Award categories include community health nursing, leadership, mental health, rising stars and more.
In 2016, we invite you to celebrate nurses and nominate one or more for a Nurse of the Year award.
Anyone can submit a nomination. If you or your family has been touched by an exceptional nurse, this is a great way to say thank you. For details on how to submit a nomination, visit the March of Dimes Minnesota.
