This is the 53rd year that scholarships have been awarded to area students pursuing a career in health care. Recipients were selected from among 104 applicants based on scholarship, need and health care related experience.
Among the 23 scholarship recipients were seven students from Chisago Lakes, Pine City, Remment Academy (Scandia) and Forest Lake High Schools. Among the remaining 15 winners were traditional and adult college and post graduate students, including three area students enrolled in medical school.
Scholarship winners represent these communities: Forest Lake, Pine City, Center City, Chisago City, North Branch, Stacy, Lino Lakes, Lindstrom, Cambridge, Wyoming, Scandia and Harris.
Scholarship recipients also include seven area college students who have received auxiliary scholarships in previous years, one Fairview Lakes employee, four children of Fairview Lakes employees, and five former student volunteers at Fairview Lakes Medical Center.
