Diners donate nearly $2,000 for Reach Out & Read

Fairview Health Services’ Blue Plate Restaurant fundraiser garnered nearly $2,000 to support Reach Out and ReadReach Out and ReadDuring the week of March 10, Blue Plate Restaurant diners who added $2 to their bills provided a child with a book and helped foster a lifelong love of reading.

Our partnership with Reach Out and Read prepares children to succeed in school by allowing our doctors to “prescribe” books and encourage families to read together.

Physicians give children free books during checkups to take home and share.

The book is used during the visit to survey developmental milestones and to teach parents about the importance of reading out loud to kids.
