Our mission

Fairview Auxiliary seeks to enhance the lives of patients, their families and the staff of Fairview in the communities in which we live. Fairview Auxiliary commits its skills and resources to benefit the whole person by providing exceptional health care while addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

We fulfill our mission by supporting Fairview programs and services and by providing scholarships to youth volunteers and Fairview staff.

We raise funds through special events, vendor product sales, and our gift shops.

As a member of the Fairview Auxiliary, you join a network of mentors, community leaders and peers dedicated to patients' needs. Contact the hospital that interests you for more information on becoming a member. Contact information for each hospital is listed below.

Fairview Lakes Medical Center Volunteer Organization

To become a member, please complete and mail this interest form. There are no membership fees.

Our Volunteer Organization fulfills its mission by supporting Fairview Lakes Medical Center's programs and services and giving scholarships for students entering health care careers. The Volunteer Organization informs members about important local and national health care issues. With more than 350 members, the Fairview Lakes Medical Center Volunteer Organization is one of the largest health care volunteer organizations in Minnesota.

Members have many chances to serve Fairview Lakes Medical Center through fund-raising and "friend-raising" events. Funds raised support patient care, equipment needs and health care scholarships for deserving local students and staff. Friend-raising activities, such as the annual Fall Brunch, bring us together for fun and friendship and welcome new members to our ranks. Members volunteer their time and talents at the hospital in many different positions and also through Fairview Lakes Hospice, Meadows on Fairview and two crafting groups.

Funding process

Each year the Volunteer Organization approves nearly $50,000 in projects to enhance patient care. Managers at Fairview Lakes Medical Center and nearby clinics may apply for this funding to support a needed item or service. Contact Jane Denovchek, manager of volunteer services, for more information.

Each year, we award $20,000 or more in scholarships to high school graduates and adult students pursuing health care careers. Scholarship applications are available beginning in January. Completed applications must be received by March 31. Scholarships are awarded each June.

The Fairview Health Services Auxiliary is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization that has supported Fairview's hospitals and services for more than 110 years with funding for charity care, health education, behavioral health and women and children's health services.

The Auxiliary is proudly recognized as a Joseph Norby Circle Benefactor for $1 million+ in giving to the Fairview system.

Auxiliary roles

Members are able to participate in leadership roles and assist in the planning and implementation of seasonal boutiques, special events and fundraisers. The Auxiliary is proud to have initiated and successfully managed three hospital gift shops for more than 50 years; we have currently transitioned out of that role. We continue to evolve and use our expertise to create opportunities that provide a compassionate and caring environment for the hospital communities that we serve.

Membership Benefits

Our volunteer leadership and membership represents a cross-section of people who live and work in the communities we serve. Although the Auxiliary exists to help others, members receive a number of benefits including the opportunity to network, build skills, have fun and make a difference.

Funding process

The Fairview Auxiliary recognizes innovation and start up initiatives that enhance patient and family experience. We encourage staff to apply for a grant—requests are accepted throughout the year.

Programs and business development that we have funded include:

  • Womankind—health care domestic abuse program
  • Health Sciences Orchestra
  • Healing Arts Program—artwork and music
  • Spiritual health services
  • Hospitality programs
  • Project Read—books for children in our pediatric clinics
  • Hospice and medical mission support
  • Scholarships for junior volunteers and employees’ continuing medical education
  • Gift shops and espresso bar operations

Please contact Connie O'Hara, Director of Auxiliary Relations, for guidelines and additional information at 952-924-1344.

Thank you for your support of the Auxiliary.
