Spiritual Health

If You or Someone You Know Needs Support

Fairview is committed to serving the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all people. Chaplains are an integral part of the Fairview health care team who offer spiritual and emotional support to patients and families who are dealing with the challenges of illness and healing.

Our chaplains can work with a patient’s faith leader or spiritual care provider as needed. They also are available to help staff and volunteers who are in need of support.

Here is information for patients and families who are seeking spiritual care as well as for faith leaders and spiritual care providers who want to contact us about a patient.

For patients and their families

Chaplains are available in our hospitals during regular hours and also available for emergent needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To request a chaplain visit, call one of the phone numbers listed below. The links below take you to the spiritual health page for each of our hospitals, where you can learn more about our Spiritual Health services. If you prefer, you can ask your nurse to make a chaplain referral.

For faith leaders and spiritual care providers

The relationship between a patient and his or her faith leader and faith community is a vital connection. When someone is hospitalized or receiving outpatient care, our goal as the chaplaincy team is to support this relationship because we know it contributes to the healing and well-being of the patients we serve.

Fairview’s health care chaplains seek your partnership to collaborate on the care we can provide together. We recognize that constraints and barriers can exist—such as distance, time and competing ministry demands—to providing the care you hope to and feel called to give. Please contact us through the numbers below if we can support you and someone within your care.

Confidentiality and privacy laws

Upon patient request, we will contact you on a patient’s behalf. We get permission to share what the patient would like communicated about specific requests or about his or her health. We're committed to upholding patient confidentiality and can only share what we’re given permission to share within the limits of patient privacy laws.

To request a chaplain visit, call one of the numbers and leave a message. Someone will call you back as soon as possible. If the call is outside of regular office hours (8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., M-F) and the pastoral or spiritual care need is urgent, you will be given information about who to call. If you have a specific request related to a ritual or sacrament, please make that a part of your message.
