What does the program include and how long does it last?

The HealthEast Weight Loss Program is comprehensive. We review your overall health history and run medical tests to know what will set you up for success. We then create a customized plan based on your needs. Programs typically run 6 to 12 months.

The program has three phases that help keep the weight off for good:

  • Active weight loss:  During this phase, we see most patients monthly. We work on all major components of obesity and design an individual plan for you, which may include certain medications to get the disease under control.
  • Transition: In this phase, patients are seeing success. The visits and medications are implemented slowly to find the lowest dose of medicine and the fewest number of visits that keeps the disease under control while giving you the support you need. This is a proven approach similar to the way other chronic diseases, like asthma, are treated.
  • Maintenance and relapse prevention: We develop a unique ongoing plan for each individual to prevent weight regain. The tools and resources will help you continue to live your new healthy lifestyle.

Is medication part of the weight loss plan?

We use a specialized, patient-focused method to create an individualized plan that may include the use of weight loss medications.

What is the cost of the program?

Obesity is a chronic disease similar to many other medical conditions we treat and most insurance companies provide coverage to treat it. If you have a weight-related diagnosis or complication such as obstructive sleep apnea, hyperlipidemia or Type 2 diabetes, we would be treating your weight based on that diagnosis and insurance coverage is usually assumed. A few insurance plans exclude obesity as a covered benefit and you are welcome to call your insurance company to check. The initial intake appointment and any follow-up appointments require your typical copay. Labs and EKG are frequently performed at your intake appointment and will be submitted to your insurance.

The program enrollment fee of $149 includes the intake class as well as personalized visits with our HealthEast Ways to Wellness staff. Ways to Wellness is dedicated to optimal health and supports your well-being by integrating a holistic approach to leading a healthy lifestyle including nutrition, fitness, health and wellness coaching, and The Kitchen Table cooking school.
