Innovative emergency care in a healing environment

More than 1,500 community members, donors, employees and physicians joined us Aug. 16 to celebrate the opening of our new Carl N. Platou Emergency Center at Fairview Southdale Hospital.

The event, presented by PreferredOne, featured tours of the new emergency center and the Popp Chronic Care Center and Observation Unit, free health screenings for families and face-painting, fun and games for kids.

“We know seconds count when caring for patients with trauma and heart emergencies and the emergency center’s expanded space, innovative layout and advanced technology are designed with patient safety and speed of treatment in mind,” says Bradley Beard, president, Fairview Southdale Hospital.

Just as important, the new emergency center promotes a welcoming and healing environment dedicated to meeting patients’ and families’ physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

“We’ve provided critical care for the community since the day we opened Fairview Southdale Hospital in 1965,” says Bradley. “Thanks to the generosity of donors and the community, the Carl N. Platou Emergency Center will ensure we’re able to provide the best in emergency medicine for many years to come.”
