Fairview clinics and pharmacies have started giving flu vaccines. It’s not too early to get yours before the illness strikes.
Why should I get a flu shot before flu season starts?
The best protection against the flu is getting vaccinated before it becomes widespread. Cases of the flu begin to surface once school is back in session, so late summer/early fall is an optimal time to get vaccinated.
Who needs a flu shot?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend a yearly flu vaccination for people six months and older. It’s especially important for those at high risk for developing flu-related complications – including pregnant women, children under 5, and adults 65 and older.
Where can I get a flu shot?
Any Fairview or HealthEast clinic or pharmacy. Find a location near you.
Do I need an appointment?
Nope, walk-ins are welcome at all pharmacies and most clinics.
Can I make an appointment if I want to?
Yes, you can make an appointment with a clinic. Call 855-FAIRVIEW or request an appointment online.
How much does it cost?
Nearly all health insurance plans cover the cost of the flu vaccine. For those without insurance, the vaccine will run you $45 to $100 at a Fairview clinic or pharmacy. The upfront expense is a great investment in your health and more affordable than the cost of getting the flu.
Is the flu mist nasal spray available this year?
The flu mist nasal spray will become available at Fairview clinics and pharmacies in October. The CDC has announced it is again a recommended flu vaccine and approved for anyone ages 2 through 49 who's not pregnant.
