Seated and Wheeled Mobility Services

Fairview Rehabilitation Services provides comprehensive seating and wheeled mobility services for adult patients. Our seated and wheeled mobility services include a multi-disciplinary evaluation, equipment recommendations or prescription, education and appropriate follow up.

Our team includes an occupational therapist, a physical therapist and a qualified rehabilitation technology supplier—and you. We work in partnership with physicians and other health care professionals to make our recommendation. We complete the necessary paperwork to help you get the right equipment from qualified rehabilitation technology suppliers.

Evaluation
We want to know about your home, work and leisure lifestyles. Together we will assess your physical skills and abilities and recommend appropriate equipment to meet your needs. If you currently have equipment, we will evaluate how well it’s working and if it’s in need of modification or replacement.

Conditions we treat

  • Mobility limitations due to muscle weakness or balance problems
  • new or recurring pressure sores or wounds
  • positioning problems resulting from deformities
  • seating and/or wheeled mobility equipment that is old or worn seating or mobility systems that may limit your independence

Services we provide
Equipment Recommendations
We have a range of options from which to choose to ensure your wheelchair and any other equipment you use meets your unique needs. Some include:

  • manual or powered wheeled mobility systems
  • specialized seating components, including seat cushions, backrests, trunk supports, headrests and upper extremity supports
  • additional equipment maximize your independence

Patient Education and Training
We’re available to answer your questions, and provide you with training and education. We can suggest:

  • a seating and wheeled mobility equipment trial
  • various transfer techniques and devices
  • methods of skin protection and care
  • a program to build sitting tolerance other specialized equipment as needed
