Fairview’s Health Unit Coordinator Sponsorship is intended to fill critical HUC vacancies at Fairview Southdale Hospital. If we do not anticipate employment opportunities to be available at the completion of the program, we cannot offer the sponsorship. Students enrolled in HUC programs at the schools mentioned below will be notified of available sponsorship opportunities shortly after the start of the program.

Eligibility
Eligible candidates must:

• Be a student in good standing in the Health Unit Coordinator Training Program at Hennepin Technical College or St. Paul College.
• Be willing to accept a position at 40 to 80 hours per two-week pay period at Fairview Southdale Hospital within one month of graduation and commit to that position for one year.

Students are selected for the sponsorship based on an application and interview process. Students selected for the sponsorship will perform their clinical rotations at Fairview Southdale Hospital.

Sponsorship amount
The sponsorship is $1,500 and is paid to the college to help cover the cost of tuition.

Note: The sponsorship is considered a “loan” by the IRS and accrues simple interest at 6 percent. The loan and interest are considered “forgiven” after the work commitment is completed, and do not need to be paid back. However, at that point, according to IRS guidelines, both the loan and interest become taxable income and are taxed at the supplemental rate of 38.9 percent.
