Skills for providing compassionate care
As a radiation therapist, you will be an integral member of the radiation therapy team who administers very precise and accurate radiation therapy treatments to treat cancer. Because you will interact with cancer patients for weeks at a time, your sense of professionalism, compassion and sensitivity are as vital to your job as technical knowledge.

Demand for radiation therapists
Career opportunities for radiation therapists are excellent, with current job openings in all areas of the country, including rural and metropolitan communities. Radiation therapists are employed in hospitals, universities and clinics as staff therapists, clinical supervisors, educators, managers and medical dosimetry.

Earning Potential
Salaries are comparable to other health care professions with similar levels of education. Certificate program in radiation therapy
The University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview School of Radiation Therapy is a 12- or 16-month, full-time certificate program.
