Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the national certification exams. Application for the examination are the responsibility of each student. Two agencies, the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA) provide certification for the Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist. Further information regarding each agency can be accessed via their WEB site: www.ascp.org/bor and www.nca-info.org.
With national certification by these agencies, graduates are employable throughout the United States. Note: some states have licensure and require an additional examination and/or certification by the BOR or NCA.
