ALUMNI

CLASS OF 2005

The Fairview Health Services CLS Class of 2005 was unique and outstanding!  The "mighty five" were all female and all had a Bachelor or Master of Science degree prior to entering the program.  Although diverse in origin and culture (Somalia, India, and the United States), the class merged into a cohesive group the first day or Orientation.  They worked as a team the entire year and celebrated each others' accomplishments.

Research projects for the class included:

  • Tana Carolus:  Coulter vs Cell-Dyn: a method comparison
  • Anisa Hashi *: Improve STAT Phlebotomy Times from Order to Collection to 990% in 30 minutes (a Six Sigma design)
  • Nancy Judy*:  joint project with Anisa Hashi
  • Vimal Mariappan:  Method Comparison between Clinitek 500 and Clinitek 200
  • Sheryl Tiburzi: Activated Clotting Time (ACT) Using Hemochron Signature Jr Instrument:  a simple precision and linearity study

Every class member passed the Board of Registry (ASCP) with scores well above the national mean.  One class member scored the highest in the nation for hospital-sponsored programs in the April-June cycle.

Four of the graduates accepted sponsorships with Fairview.  Three are working at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview-University campus and one is working at Fairview Ridges Hospital.  The fifth graduate ventured north and is employed in Duluth, MN.

All of the CLS faculty and staff are proud of Fairview's first CLS class.
