The second class had an equal number of male and female students. Four of the students had a bachelor of science degree prior to entering the program. The academic affiliates represented by this class were Augsburg College and Bradley University. The post-baccalaureate students held degrees from Augsburg College, St. Cloud University, and Concordia University (Nebraska).
Students enrolled in the program are required to conduct a research project. This includes writing a proposal, conducting the research, writing a formal research paper, and presenting the project's results to faculty and peers. The projects for the Class of 2006 were:

- Jessica Kleen: Instrument Comparison of Coulter and Sysmex
- Janet Larson: Method Validation of the Vitros 5.1 FS
- Ruben Shargodosky: Evaluation of IRIS 500 and IQ200
- Dan Shaw: Comparison of Hand Soaps at Southdale
- Matt Wahl: Comparison of Two Methods of DNA Purity Demonstration
The graduates are all employed: two are working for Fairview Laboratories, and the others are working in the Twin Cities area. All graduates passed the certification exams.
