Fairview Health Services and University of Minnesota Physicians name Cardiovascular Executive Medical Director
Robert F. Wilson, MD, is the new Cardiovascular Executive Medical Director for Minneapolis-based University of Minnesota Physicians. Wilson will provide physician leadership and strategic direction for the cardiovascular program. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology, Wilson brings more than 20 years experience in cardiovascular medicine and research. Learn more.
New heart and vascular testing center
Fairview Ridges Hospital now offers expanded heart care capabilities with the opening of its new catherization laboratory. A catherization laboratory or “cath lab” is a procedure/ examination room in a hospital that uses state-of-the-art imaging technology, allowing your physician to see inside your arteries. Fairview Ridges Hospital's cath lab is the only heart lab serving people living in south metro communities, and allows for better and faster diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions, including blocked arteries that may lead to a heart attack. University of Minnesota Physicians, Minnesota Heart Clinic and Fairview create new cardiology program
University of Minnesota Physicians
and Edina-based Minnesota Heart Clinic
announced plans to merge their cardiology programs and, together with Fairview, will create a new, integrated cardiovascular program. The October 1 merger expands Fairview and University of Minnesota Physicians’ ability to meet growing patient demand for cardiovascular services at Fairview’s seven hospitals, 48 primary care clinics and throughout Minnesota. It also moves the three organizations toward a long-term vision for innovative patient services that promise to transform how cardiovascular care is delivered to patients throughout the region.

This union brings three award-winning programs and community and academic doctors together to create one of the largest cardiology programs in the state. Patients will be able to participate in the latest medical research available and benefit from research discoveries and innovations as they are applied directly to patient care.
