Janet sees her role of a pastoral educator as that of a guide through a process of interactive and integrative learning. She experiences supervision as a "meeting on the journey" which offers the student the possibility to discover a more authentic voice, to see the Divine learning in one's story and to nurture personal and professional growth. Her supervisory practice is formed primarily by object relations and family systems theories, and by feminist and narrative theology.
