Welcome to the Fairview Clinical Pastoral Education site
Fairview CPE Center educates spiritual caregivers in various clinical settings within the Fairview system and in the community to address the spiritual needs of patients, their families, staff and the community. Students of varied faith traditions develop spiritual care skills, explore their own personal and spiritual histories and deepen their pastoral authority and identity. We were the first CPE Center in Minneapolis to offer a full year of CPE within the hospital setting.

Fairview CPE program description
One unit of CPE requires a minimum of 400 hours of supervised clinical ministry. These units are offered in a variety of formats and at various locations to allow for more people to benefit from the program. Most students are seminary students or experienced faith group leaders. Professional chaplains are required to complete a minimum of four units of CPE before becoming certified.
Fairview CPE Center offers clinical pastoral education at three expressions of clinical pastoral development as defined by ACPE: Level I, Level II and Supervisory CPE. A student's readiness for any level CPE is assessed through an interview with one or more certified supervisors.
The Fairview CPE team includes staff chaplains and certified clinical pastoral educators primarily at the following locations: Ebenezer, Fairview Southdale Hospital, Fairview Ridges Hospital and University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.
Fairview CPE Center is accredited by Accreditation Center of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE), 1549 Clairmont Rd., Ste. 103, Decatur, GA 30033-4611; phone 404-320-1472; Web site www.ACPE.edu
