Is voice therapy right for you?
Our speech-language pathologists work with ear-nose-and-throat physicians to decide if you can benefit from voice therapy. Rehabilitation and education can treat voice problems related to the following conditions:
- Vocal cord (fold) problems (Swollen, inflamed, bowed, paralysis)
- Allergy or asthma
- Vocal fold nodules, polyps or polypoid swelling
- Spasmodic dysphonia (hoarse, breathy, harsh voice)
- Nervous system disorders
- Acid reflux
- Respiratory system disorders
- Paroxysmal vocal cord dysfunction
Customized testing and treatment
Our therapists will develop an individualized evaluation and treatment plan that may include one or more of these:
- Voice evaluation and capabilities assessment
- Videostroboscopy: videotaping and viewing of the vocal folds
- Audio recordings and computer voice analysis
- Rehabilitation therapy before and after vocal fold surgery
- Singing and speaking skills
- Voice health, conditioning, and injury prevention skills
