Accent Modification Program

Helping you improve your spoken English

Do people have a hard time understanding what you say due to your accent? We can help. Fairview’s Accent Modification program can teach you to improve your spoken English through group classes or individual tutoring.

Our speech therapist uses the highly successful Compton P-ESL Method to help you learn correct pronunciation. You’ll also get handouts and a CD to help you practice new speaking skills every day.

Small Group Classes (maximum five students per class)
The seven-week class is for people who have a better-than-average command of English. In particular, they:
  • Speak with very mild foreign accents.
  • Are native English speakers with regional dialects.
  • Need overall speech improvement.

The 13-week class is a good fit for those who have an average command of English. In particular, they:
  • Speak with foreign accents.
  • Are not native English speakers.
  • Need overall and specific speech improvements.

Private Tutoring
Both the seven-week and 13-week courses are available on a private tutoring basis.

Accent Modification Refresher
This class works well for people who have already completed an accent modification course. The refresher can be completed as an individual or in a class with others. The class can be adjusted to meet your particular needs.

English as a Second Language (ESL) refresher (Riverside location only)
This seven-week class is for people who have already completed an ESL class but want to review and refresh their English grammar and pronunciation.
