Speaker
Carrie Oatman Macoskey, OTR/L, CLT/LANA is a clinical specialist/edema therapist who has worked for Fairview for 13 years. She has a bachelor of science degree in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Kentucky University. She is Casley-Smith, Vodder trained and certified by the Lymphology Association of North America. Areas of interest include oncology rehab. She has lectured at the Breast Cancer Conference, National Lymphedema Network conference, and Oncology Nursing Conference.
Course Description
This course is a beginner course on using kinesio tape for edema. You will learn pathways to move fluid efficiently, how to apply the kinesio tape and pathways to use for the tape. Contraindications of using kinesio tape. Included in the lecture portion of the course is review of the pathophysiology of the lymphatic and circulatory system.
Objectives
Course attendees will be able to:
•Understand the physiology/pathophysiology of the lymphatic system
•Understand the indications of Kinesio Taping in regards to edema and scar tissue adherence
•Demonstrate Kinesio Taping for the type of swelling and/or scar adherence they see in clinic
