At our hospitals, medical centers and clinics, we offer services such as:
Organ, Tissue, Bone and Other Imaging
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Images produced using MRI technology show detailed internal structures and functions of the body. MRI does not use radiation, but uses a powerful magnetic field to generate images. It is especially useful in brain, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and cancer imaging.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
This imaging test can help show how your tissues and organs are functioning. It is most often used for people who have cancer, heart disease or brain disorders. A PET uses a small amount of radioactive material that enters your body by injection, inhaling or swallowing. It is actually a combined CT and nuclear medicine study.

Computer Tomography (CT)
Called CT scans or just CT, computerized tomography images look inside the body differently than regular x-ray exams. CT images combine a series of X-ray views to show the doctor the bones and soft tissue inside your body. A CT scan can quickly examine people who may have internal injuries from trauma. It can also be used to look at almost anything in your body including checking for blockages or other problems inside your blood vessels.

Ultrasound
Using high-frequency sound waves, an ultrasound examination produces precise images of structures within your body. Ultrasound is useful in a variety of ways: probably the most well known is to evaluate a fetus. However, it is also used to look at abdominal organs, thyroid, heart, blood vessels, and other portions of the body. Ultrasound can also be used as a guide for biopsies or other procedures.

Nuclear Medicine
Many types of cancers, heart disease and other abnormalities in the body can be diagnosed using nuclear medicine. This imaging technique uses small amounts of radioactive materials that are injected in a vein, swallowed or inhaled as a gas. These materials work with a computer to produce special detailed pictures of both the structure and function of organs and tissues.

X-rays
X-rays are used to examine many parts of the body. It is a fast, painless test that produces images showing the inside of your body, especially bones and joints. Bone fractures, arthritis, some types of cancer, heart conditions, blocked blood vessels and digestive tract problems are just some of the uses of X-rays at Fairview. We use digital X-rays that improve the speed of receiving the images as well as the quality of the image.
