Pediatric hospitalists are primary care physicians who specialize in caring for pediatric patients solely in the hospital. Because of this, hospitalists have more experience in caring for complex pediatric medical conditions. The expertise of our 10 pediatric hospitalists helps them to recognize and diagnose unusual disorders, anticipate problems and rapidly respond to crises or changes in a young patient's condition.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
When babies need more specialized care, the newly renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Fairview Ridges Hospital provides personalized, family-centered care. As one of only five percent of U.S. hospitals with a NICU, our Level III NICU is equipped to care for infants born at 30 weeks gestation and above. The Fairview Ridges unit is staffed around the clock with neonatal nurse practitioners working in tandem with a team of neonatologists from University of Minnesota Children's Hospital.
