Relief for the pain, symptoms and stress of serious illness
If your serious illness is accompanied by symptoms that affect your quality of life, you can find relief.
Palliative care is supportive care that focuses on all of your needs, from physical to spiritual.
Whether delivered in the hospital or medical center or at home, palliative care offers an additional layer of supportive care. Our palliative care staff works with your doctor and others on your health care team to help you relieve physical, spiritual and emotional stress while making the most of life.
Fairview has long been known as a leader in the area of palliative care. In 2003, Fairview’s program was designated as a Palliative Care Leadership Center by the Center to Advance Palliative Care and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Fairview staff has trained staff at other hospitals to develop and expand their palliative care programs.
Open to any patient who is seriously ill
You’ll find palliative care is a good fit at any age and at any stage of a serious or long-term illness. It can be provided along with treatment to cure your illness or as part of hospice care in the last stages of life.
