Maternal-Fetal Medicine
If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, and have a high risk of experiencing a medically complicated pregnancy, specialists at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview's, three Maternal-Fetal Medicine Centers are available to provide you with specialized care. Patients must be referred to Maternal-Fetal Medicine Centers by their primary care physician. Referral form for physicians.
Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists are board certified in maternal fetal medicine. In addition, our maternal-fetal medicine team has the only physician in Minnesota who is dually trained in maternal-fetal medicine and clinical genetics.
Our Centers are part of the University of Minnesota National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health, which serves as a national model to provide innovative, comprehensive and interdisciplinary care for women.
Our maternal-fetal medicine providers often collaborate with echocardiographers, genetic counselors, neonatologists, cardiologists, ultrasonographers and registered nurses, among other specialists. University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital is located on the same campus as the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center – Minneapolis. The children’s hospital has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that provides the highest level on neonatal intensive care available. Maternal-Fetal Medicine patients who receive care at our Edina and Burnsville locations also have access to these services.
