Hospitalists at Fairview Lakes Medical Center

Our hospitalists care for patients around the clock

To make sure you or your loved one receives the finest care, our medical staff includes hospitalists who care for people in the hospital. They are available around the clock to respond to patients’ health care needs and answer questions.

The hospitalist advantage
Hospitalists are physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who specialize in caring for people who are hospitalized. Because they see patients only in the hospital, hospitalists have experience caring for people with complex medical conditions. This experience allows them to quickly recognize and diagnose conditions, anticipate problems and respond to crises or changes in a person’s condition. They’ll also make every effort to control patients’ pain.

Hospitalists treat people who are in the hospital for any reason. Because they provide patient care 24 hours a day, they can:
  • Coordinate your care quickly
  • Respond rapidly to any changes in your condition
  • Answer your questions immediately

Working with primary care providers
Our hospitalists will coordinate care with your primary providers and other members of your care team. Hospitalists will also discuss treatment, follow-up appointments and medications with you and your primary provider. When you go home from the hospital, your regular doctor will again provide care and answer questions.

Hospitalists use the latest technology
Hospitalists in our intensive care unit (ICU) have access to technology that allows them to work with critical care doctors at University of Minnesota Medical Center. This program, called Tele-ICU, uses remote monitoring and two-way video and audio to provide an additional layer of care to that already provided by our hospital care team. Tele-ICU makes it possible for people with complex medical conditions to stay in a hospital closer to home.
