The Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) program garnered national attention when University of Minnesota Physicians performed the world’s first successful bone marrow transplant in 1968. Since then, University of Minnesota Medical Center, and University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital have remained frontrunners in the field. Children and adults come from around the world to be treated in our hospitals.
