Preparing for labor
We find the more you know about what to expect during labor ahead of time, you’re likely to be less anxious during labor and able to instead focus on the amazing experience of meeting your child. We offer classes to help you prepare for delivery, learn about labor techniques and help you conquer challenges after the baby arrives, including breastfeeding, sleeping and general newborn care.
Your safety and comfort matter to us
Our comfortable, secure birthing and postpartum rooms are outfitted with the latest technology, assuring the best treatment for you and your baby. Comfortable patient rooms allow you to bond with your newborn and recover from labor. While most births occur without complications, several of our hospitals have a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU, which offer medical monitoring and specialized care. Neonatologists at Fairview Ridges Hospital, Fairview Southdale Hospital and University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital provide round-the-clock care for babies who are born prematurely, have a low birth weight, or experience other medical complications.
