Patients Share Their Birth Stories

The birth of a child is a day most won't ever forget. The journey may not always be easy and certainly, it  involves some pain. However, any mother will tell you it's all worth it the moment you get hold to your baby for the first time. Below, a few of our mom's share their birth experience.

Shantel delivered her three children at the Birthplace

Shantel’s birth experience
I was admitted for an induction for the birth of my third child on a Tuesday morning. When the nurse evaluated me, she asked if I was feeling any pain. I told her no, and asked her why. She told me I was having contractions on my own!

Within a short amount of time, I started feeling the contractions. Two hours later I hadn't progressed, so I started on pitocin. Hours went by with no change. I spent a lot of time walking in the hallway and anxiously waiting for something to happen, with no luck. Finally, the next morning I progressed a little bit and my doctor, Peter Jensen, broke my water. Two hours later, I was holding my daughter in my arms. I only had to push once and little Madison was here – 7 pounds, 11 ounces of perfection.

My doctor put me at ease and all of the nurses were very caring, always taking time to answer my questions. I was able to get to know the nurses, which is important to me – I want to know who’s caring for me and my baby.  I’ll always have great memories of my children's births.
