Lactation Services

Nourishing newborns

Breast feeding can have nutritional benefits for new babies as well as allow for bonding between mother and baby.

Fairview hospitals, medical centers and clinics provide certified lactation consultants to help new moms and babies who need extra assistance with breast feeding. Lactation support is available following birth in the hospital and is also available on an outpatient basis.

Inpatient Lactation Services
In the hospital, our nurses will answer questions, help new mothers learn breastfeeding and provide one-on-one assistance. If there are problems or concerns, a lactation educator or consultant may be called.
