Congratulations on your pregnancy! This can be an exciting, emotional and sometimes overwhelming time. Faced with numerous decisions to make—selecting The Birthplace at Fairview for your delivery is an easy choice.

Whichever Fairview hospital you choose, our health care team looks forward to making your birth experience one you will treasure. Your and your baby’s health and well-being are our main concerns. You’ll find that our skilled nursing teams and trusted doctors care for their patients throughout the birth process.

If you’re looking for a physician or certified nurse-midwife, we partner with many outstanding healthcare providers in the area. Find a clinic near you.

We proudly deliver thousands of babies every year. Each birth is unique and you can rest easy knowing we have the skills and experience to help you welcome your new baby—during an uncomplicated labor or a high-risk delivery.

Evening at the Birthplace
We regularly offer Evening at the Birthplace educational events at our locations in Princeton and Wyoming to show you where you will deliver and hold that precious baby in your arms for the first time. You will be able to meet The Birthplace care team, learn what to expect if you choose to have your baby at The Birthplace and meet some of our partners. The evening will also allow you to take a guided tour of The Birthplace by our staff.

Birthplace Tours
Sometimes you just have to see the place and meet the people to make a decision. That’s why we offer opportunities for you to tour The Birthplace at one of our locations in Burnsville, Edina, or Minneapolis.

Whether you attend an Evening at the Birthplace event or a tour at one of our hospitals, The Birthplace care team will be glad to answer your questions about the following pregnancy and birth services:
  • Labor
  • Birth
  • Breastfeeding
  • Choosing a doctor for your baby
  • Classes (before and after baby)
  • Additional amenities for moms and babies
  • After-baby services for new moms

Patient stories
Sometimes, the best information comes from people who have experienced our services. Read stories from moms who discovered The Birthplace at Fairview was the perfect place for their family.

Preparing for labor
We find the more you know about what to expect during labor ahead of time, you’re likely to be less anxious during labor and able to instead focus on the amazing experience of meeting your child. We offer classes to help you prepare for delivery, learn about labor techniques and help you conquer challenges after the baby arrives, including breastfeeding, sleeping and general newborn care.

Your safety and comfort matter to us
Our comfortable, secure birthing and postpartum rooms are outfitted with the latest technology, assuring the best treatment for you and your baby. Comfortable patient rooms allow you to bond with your newborn and recover from labor. While most births occur without complications, several of our hospitals have a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU, which offer medical monitoring and specialized care. Neonatologists at Fairview Ridges Hospital, Fairview Southdale Hospital and University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital provide round-the-clock care for babies who are born prematurely, have a low birth weight, or experience other medical complications.
