Fairview Sleep Centers patients share their stories
Better sleep changed their lives for the better.
My name is Allen Arseneault. I’m 36 years old and I live in Blaine with my wife and two very active sons. Before I did a home sleep study, I felt miserable all the time. I was always tired. The sleep study showed that I have severe sleep apnea. They prescribed a continuous positive airway pressure machine that same day and showed me how to use it.
Like many people with sleep problems, I tried to ignore them. I probably had sleep apnea for 15 to 20 years, before I was forced to do something about it. Untreated sleep apnea interrupted my breathing dozens of times a night, and, as a result, I woke up each day feeling exhausted.
My name is Christopher Fellows. I had a really bad snoring problem, and I never felt rested. I was snoring loud enough to wake myself up at night, and I was waking my wife up, too. I was only sleeping two or three hours a night. In the morning I was so tired that the entire day was a struggle.
My name is Deanne Nelson, and I’m from Shakopee. I have a condition called idiopathic hypersomnia with long sleep time, a disorder that causes excessive drowsiness. The illness is puzzling and frustrating, as the cause is unknown. An overnight sleep study in a Fairview Sleep Center helped diagnose my condition.
