Hand Therapy
At Fairview, we provide specialized rehabilitation for the hand, wrist and elbow following injury, disease or surgery. Our hand therapists work closely with you and your doctor to design a program to help you live life as fully as possible.Conditions we successfully treat:
- Traumatic injury of tendons, ligaments, nerves, joints and bones
- Cumulative trauma disorders such as tendonitis, tenosynovitis, nerve compressions and pain syndromes
- Arthritis
- Dupuytren’s contracture (knots of tissue under the skin in your palm that pull your fingers into a bent position)
- Paralysis
- Carpal tunnel
- Trigger finger
Treatment may include:
- Splinting
- Exercise for range of motion and strength building
- Sensory re-education
- Pain management
- Ergonomics education
- Training to modify daily activities
- Swelling control
- Wound and scar management
- Work simulation
