Fairview Interpreter Services

Fairview is proud to offer interpreter services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and their families.  Fairview Interpreter Services can arrange interpreters for signed and spoken languages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

These services also apply to research study subjects and are provided at no charge to the patient or the research study for this service.

Fairview's spoken language interpreters are trained in medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, professional ethics, and hospital policy.  Their sign language interpreters are also nationally certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (CI/CT) and/or the National Association of the Deaf (Level IV or V).  They also have a phone ("language line") that they can provide to patients while they are being seen or staying (i.e. inpatients) in a Fairview hospital or clinic.  This allows the patient to call and speak with an interpreter anytime and nurses may also use the phone to call down and speak with interpreters if they need something translated to the patient - they are able to do a three-way call.

To contact Interpreter Services at any time, call (612) 273-3780.  You may also visit their intranet site by clicking here.
