U.S. News & World Report ranks Fairview Southdale Hospital #7 in Twin Cities
U.S. News & World Report is recognizing the best hospitals in the nation and Fairview Southdale Hospital was included in the regional rankings for the Twin Cities area. The magazine's annual "Best Hospital" edition includes national ranking and the regional rankings for the 51 largest metro areas.

Hospital readmission rates fall 44% in pilot program between Fairview Southdale Hospital and UCare

The Star Tribune reports on a pilot program developed by Dr. William Nersesian and supported by UCare. The early results from the program show a 44% drop in readmission rates when hospital-based physicians recommend their patients seek follow up care as soon as possible.

Medical Oncology Clinic earns customer satisfaction award

Fairview Southdale Medical Oncology Clinic was awarded the Top Overall Customer Satisfaction Award for Excellence of Overall Care by Fairview Physician Associates (FPA), a physician-led nonprofit network of 1,200 primary- and specialty-care doctors at 200 clinics in the Twin Cities. FPA gathers data quarterly from customer satisfaction surveys and uses the information to help its member clinics improve patient satisfaction. The Medical Oncology Clinic at Fairview Southdale Hospital provides personalized treatment, with a focus on healing the whole person: body, mind and spirit. Fairview Southdale Hospital has won several awards for our cancer care, including a 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer.


Two Fairview hospitals earn MHA safety awards

Fairview Southdale Hospital and University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview each recently earned a Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) Patient Safety Excellence Award for second quarter. These awards honor high-performing hospitals in one of MHA’s patient safety campaigns—Safe Skin, Safe from Falls, Safe Site, Safe Count and Safe Account.

Fairview Southdale earned a Safe Site award, and the medical center earned a Safe from Falls award.

The campaigns, which aim to prevent top-reported adverse events, are built around a “roadmap” of best practices. Hospitals that implement at least 90 percent of roadmap steps are honored.
