U.S. News & World Report: Fairview Southdale Hospital ranked #7 in the metro area
EDINA (July 19, 2011) - Today, U.S. News & World Report is recognizing the best hospitals in the nation and Fairview Southdale Hospital is included. The magazine’s annual “Best Hospital” edition includes national rankings and the regional rankings for the 51 largest metro areas.
Fairview Southdale Hospital is high-performing in:
• Ear, Nose & Throat
• Geriatrics
• Gynecology
• Orthopedics
• Pulmonology
• Urology
Fairview Southdale also ranked #7 in the Minneapolis metro area. This is the first time Fairview Southdale Hospital has been recognized for this honor.
The “Best Hospitals” issue hits newsstands August 30th, but all the rankings are available right now at U.S. News & World Report.
The rankings are based on certain measures including reputation, outcomes and other care-related factors like advanced technology and affiliation with a medical school.
Along with Fairview Southdale Hospital, University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview was ranked #1 in the Twin Cities and ranked nationally in nine specialties:

• Diabetes & Endocrinology (#36)
• Ear, Nose & Throat (#49)
• Gastroenterology (#25)

• Neurology & Neurosurgery (#36)
• Orthopedics (#34)

Additionally, Fairview Ridges Hospital was ranked #9 in the Twin Cities and high-performing in: Ear, Nose & Throat, Gynecology and Pulmonology.
