We then traveled back to Ollantaytambo and the Willoq community. Willoq is one of the only remaining Inca villages. The area population is very malnourished and most of the children are in need of vitamins and parasite medications. Once again we were able to leave vitamins and anti-parasite meds for the coming school year.
This year a local doctor joined us and he was able to see many of the adults. In total , we saw over 450 children during our clinics.
The goal of the team this year is to identify the needs of this community so that when they return next year we can help improve their living conditions. The water was tested and a group of students sat down with the elders of the community. Some of their requests were simple cleaning supplies and hygiene products. This is my fourth mission trip and I always return feeling like I received so much more than I was able to give. I once again am grateful for the assistance from the Fairview Foundation in helping us bring the needed supplies on our trip and helping the children of Peru.
