Jamie Peters, M.D., received his bachelors of arts in psychology from Colorado College and studied medicine at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Minnesota’s Smiley’s Program in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He sees patients at Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care in the South Metro.
He is board certified in family medicine and obtained his Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in sports medicine in 1999. Other areas of medical interest include hospital-based medicine, pediatrics, academic medicine and critical care medicine. He has spent 10 years of his career as full time teaching faculty at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the University of Minnesota Medical School. In addition to his sports medicine practice, he serves as Vice President of Medical Services at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, were he also serves as a hospitalist .
He is a physician member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Peters was named to Mpls/St. Paul Magazine's Top Docs in 2007. The annual survey randomly samples licensed and practicing Minnesota physicians about who they consider to be the best in the industry.
“I enjoy the partnership with my patients in assisting them to maximize their overall health”. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, cross country ski racing, biking, running, backpacking and photography.
