Certified athletic trainers are trained to evaluate, treat, rehabilitate and prevent injuries as a result of sports participation or an active lifestyle. Working in high school, college, clinical or professional athlete settings, they play an important role in reducing the serious effects of injury and helping people return to an active lifestyle.
At Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care, our athletic trainers work side-by-side other members of our medical team to provide the best, most timely care possible following injury or surgery.
Other services provided by athletic trainers at the clinic include:
-
preparticipation physicals: athletic trainers provide preparticipation physicals before fall and winter sports seasons for local high schools and colleges. Our doctors are also available for physical exams or for special concerns and further evaluation.
-
educational workshops: athletic trainers offer educational workshops on such topics as handling emergencies, injury evaluation and treatment, first aid, and taping techniques. Workshops are presented in lecture and hands-on training formats.
