Deanna Nelson brings more than ten years of experience to her position at Fairview Lakes Health Services. Deanna joined us in 2006 and is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at Chisago Lakes High School and works as a physician extender in the Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care clinic.
After receiving her B.S. in Kinesiology and Business, and M.Ed. in Sports and Exercise Physiology from the University of Minnesota, she was employed at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) for six years working mainly with women’s hockey, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and tennis. During her time working at UMD she helped the Division I women’s hockey team win three national championship titles. Deanna then moved to St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic for four years where she was the Head Athletic Trainer for the Minnesota Ballet and Duluth Denfeld High School. She also worked in the clinic as a physician extender to many orthopedic doctors as well as in the physical therapy clinic. Deanna received her Ph.D. in Sport Psychology and constantly continues to develop her expertise in Sports Medicine and Sport Psychology.
