Foot and Ankle Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention
It is estimated that more than 70 percent of all people in the U.S. will develop a foot or ankle problem at some point during their life. Foot pain is not normal. Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care has specialists who can help.
Podiatric Care
Podiatric surgeons diagnose, treat and prevent problems of the foot and ankle. They use non-surgical and surgical treatment options to ensure the best care possible, and coordinate care with our rehabilitation specialists and your primary care provider.
Some common ailments podiatrists treat include:
- heel pain
- bunions
- hammertoes
- foot pain
- foot and ankle sprains and fractures
- in-grown toenails
- diabetic-related foot problems
If surgery is required, your podiatric surgeon will see you at a Fairview Hospital.
Specialized Training
Podiatric surgeons complete a four-year undergraduate degree and four years of Podiatric Medical College resulting in a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) degree. In addition, podiatric surgeons complete a three-year surgical residency with an emphasis on elective and reconstructive surgery of the foot and diabetic limb salvage. They are up-to-date on the latest procedures and trends in foot and ankle surgery, and work closely with our doctors and rehabilitation team to ensure the best possible care.
